“Boardwalk Empire” Premiers on HBO

Steve Buscemi will portray Enoch “Nucky” Johnson on the upcoming “Broadwalk Empire.  After reading the script and before getting an offer, Buscemi said “Wow, I’m almost sorry I’m reading this because if I don’t get it, I’ll be so disappointed.”    Buscemi said “This is one of the best parts I’ve ever had in my life…  To play a character who is ambitious, certainly has a dark side, but has a lot of humor and genuinely has a good heart and wants to share the wealth with the world.”  Martin Scorsese is the executive producer of the underworld story set in the 1920’s.  World War One had ended, women had the right to vote and prohibition was the law.  “Nucky” is Atlantic City’s treasurer which puts him in a position to deal in bootlegged booze.  Scorsese said “It resonates today, not only in America but around the world.”  Boardwalk is based on a nonfiction book by Nelson Johnson.
